FISA conference more relevant than ever
The Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa (FISA) will hold its sixth annual conference on Thursday 25 August 2016 at the Sandton Convention Centre. The conference has grown a strong reputation for combining the latest academic thinking with practical experience.
Under the theme “The only constant is change”, this year’s conference will again field a powerful list of speakers. Louis van Vuren, CEO of FISA, says: “With threats to trusts looming, changes to the Estate Duty Act with unforeseen consequences, and financially tough times upon us, anyone practising in or writing about the fiduciary field should attend.”
Speakers and topics include:
Judge Bernard Ngoepe – Ethical behaviour by taxpayer and tax collector
Prof Francois du Toit – Freedom of testation in the light of recent offshore developments
Prof Elmarie Knoetse - Customary law of succession and the impact of legislation
Prof Bradley Smith - Separation of control and enjoyment in trusts
Mrs Latiefa Albertus – Law reform in relation to trusts
Ms Amanda Catto – Dealing with the abuse of trusts in divorce matters
Ms Hanneke Farrand – Legal and tax consequences of emigration
Adv Lester Basson, Chief Master – Regulatory developments
