The Fiduciary Institute of SA (FISA) is holding its second annual convention on 6 September in Cape Town. The aim of the convention is to bring fiduciary practitioners and academics together to discuss industry issues with a view to lifting the standards

Fiduciary practice includes estate planning, the drafting of wills, and the administration of trusts, beneficiary funds and deceased estates.

This year the FISA convention will be held at the BoE Clocktower building in the V&A Waterfront in co-operation with the Centre for Estate Planning Law and sponsored by Microgen.

Speakers include leading academics from several universities and senior fiduciary practitioners. Please see the attached programme.

Convention organiser and FISA member Louis van Vuren said: “The convention is designed to give practitioners deeper insights and practical assistance through exploring the outcome of several recent courts cases relating to trusts and wills.

“Speakers will cover a wide variety of issues, ranging from international estate planning, the consequences of not complying with the formalities for signing a will, maintenance claims by grandchildren and in deceased estates in general, through to the questions around alter ego trusts and sham trusts.”

Anyone involved in the fiduciary industry is welcome to attend the convention which is also an accredited CPD event for members of the Financial Planning Institute (FPI).
