Centriq’s golf day affords the winning team to donate to the welfare of their choice
Centriq’s golf day for non-golfers, held at the Creek 9 Golf Club at the end of September this year afforded the winning 4-Ball team the opportunity to donate R4000 to the welfare of their choice.
“Companies and individuals across South Africa today really want to make a difference with the corporate social responsibility projects they choose. And since there are so many exceptional welfare organisations in our country that people don’t know about, we gave the winning team free reign in choosing an organisation,” says Neil Ashcroft, Centriq’s executive head of marketing and client services.
With the festive season around the corner, Woodside Sanctuary, a home for handicapped children and adults who are not able to stay with their families because of the special care they need, was an obvious choice. So the proud 4-Ball winners, Claude Stieglitz of GIB Marine Insurance Brokers, Sue Russo of GIB, Sean Lutz and Sherwin Seethal of Centriq, Golden Mbhalatiof Aon Re donated the R4000 to them. Ashcroft handed over the cheque to Woodside Sanctuary manager, Hugh Rix, on 5 November.
“I am grateful that we were able to spend some valuable time at the sanctuary and that we could make a contribution to such a worthy cause,” comments Ashcroft.
The sanctuary, staffed by qualified nurses, accepts all children, right from birth. It also offers temporary care and holiday accommodation. Responsibilities have increased many times over since it was established in 1955. Therefore, Woodside Sanctuary raises funds by sending out mail appeals to private donors, companies and trusts and by selling Christmas cards as well as other stationary as an additional form of income.
