FIA Awards August 2023 - Western National Insurance

Western National Insurance is pleased to announce that it won the Non-Life Insurer of the year: Commercial award at the FIA Intermediary Experience Awards, for the second year in a row. Head of Claims, Thabo Modise and Head of Distribution, Madelein Stockton, accepted the award at the ceremony held at the Sandton Convention Centre.

“For us at Western, this is a noteworthy achievement, and testament to the culture of partnership, collaboration and high service standards that we continuously strive towards and promote. Receiving recognition of this level from South Africa’s leading intermediary experience survey, for the second year in a row, is a huge milestone for us, and we couldn’t be prouder of our team.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere gratitude to our brokers, as we collectively navigate the many changes and challenges that face our industry to provide our clients with the best possible service,” says Jurgen Hellweg, Western National CEO.

The FIA awards, an annual highlight on the insurance industry’s calendar, is the most well-known recognition event in the South African financial services industry. Dating back more than 20 years, the awards continue to see top national intermediaries battle it out for the top spots. At their core, these awards assist in helping product providers understand the service expectations of intermediaries, with an end goal in mind, which is to deliver good outcomes for their mutual customers.

As a focus, the prestigious awards recognise product providers for products, solutions as well as the services they offer to the end consumer, through intermediaries. Additionally, the awards serve to celebrate the value that financial advisers, brokers and other professionals bring to the financial services industry. “As members of the broader financial services industry, our goal continues to be in service of growing and bolstering the industry,” says Hellweg.

As Hellweg concludes: “We would like to congratulate all who walked away with various accolades this year and to thank all of those involved in bringing the awards to life. We are delighted to have once again been recognised with this important award as we seek to continually distinguish ourselves as a leading commercial insurer in the South African insurance landscape.

At Western, we firmly believe that the key to our business success lies in delivering consistently good service to our broker community and ultimately, to our mutual clients too.”
