VEA Risk Consultants and Regent Insurance Diamond Awards

In 2007, VEA Risk Consultants, together with Regent Insurance Company launched the first Diamond Award at the Tourism Indaba in Durban.   The launch of this prestigious award was such a great success that the company decided to add three more categories.   This event will continue to take place every year.

 

The second Diamond Awards took place at Regent Insurance Company’s Head Office on the 6th of May 2008.   Invited guests where welcomed by Mrs. Beverley Wiggett (General Manager of VEA Risk Consultants), thereafter, Mrs. Joan Jackson (Managing Director of VEA Risk Consultants) explained the humble beginnings of the company and also gave guests insight into what it takes to be nominated for these awards. Mr. Jono Soames (General Manager of Regent Insurance Company) informed all the guests about the success of the VEA and Regent partnership and the role Regent is currently playing in the Tourism, Hospitality and Wildlife insurance industries. Mr. Ken Van Sweeden (Camargue Underwriting Managers) talked about their new and exciting partnership with VEA Risk Consultants and also informed the guests about the first Camargue Insurance policy that was sold from the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

 

Various specialists had an opportunity to talk about the role their organisation / association is playing in these industries. This included Mr. Michael Tatalias (CEO of SATSA), Mrs. Veronica Daniels (FEDHASA), Dr. Gert Dry (WRSA) and Mrs. Lizette Withers (ETA)

 

The winners of each category where as follows,

Best Managed Accommodation Establishment – Protea Hotel Nkolo Spa

Best Managed Sectional Title – Club Nautique Body Corporate

Best Managed Wildlife Establishment – Buffalo Ranch

Best Managed Travel Agency – XL Astra Travel

 

Some of the nominations included, Mabalingwe Nature Reserve, Letsatsi Game Lodge (Diamond Award Winner 2006), Flight Specials Franchise and Moolmanshoek Private Game Reserve etc.

 

The criteria for the awards where based on the “attitude” towards proper risk management, healthy claims history, compliancy to all applicable legislations, day to day business operations and sustainability.

 

VEA Risk Consultants has grown considerably in the last 2 years, and currently has 6 Niche insurance products to cater for the Tourism, Hospitality and Wildlife Insurance industries.   These policies can be sold in South Africa, Botswana and Lesotho.

 

VEA Risk Consultants would like to take this opportunity to thank their business partner namely Regent Insurance Company for their continuous support and contribution.   With Camargue being a new roll player in the tourism and hospitality industry we can now offer Broadform Liability Insurance and various other niche products, tailor made for these industries.   Last but not least we would like to thank the various industry associations for their role in our success.
