Top brokers acknowledged at CIB Broker Awards

12 November 2020 CIB

The 2020 CIB Broker Awards took place on 6 November in Johannesburg, under strict COVID-19 protocols for a well-deserved celebration. The event recognised CIB’s best-performing brokers over the financial year ending 31 August 2020.

The company’s Managing Director, Wilhelm von La Chevallerie, called on brokers to recognise the interesting times we live in, but not to dwell on the past.

“Nobody expected a year like this,” he said. “Not only can we now tell even more interesting stories to our grandchildren, but we can be proud of what we have done. Well done to everyone for navigating through this year.

“At CIB we have not only kept the lights on during the lockdown, but we have spent a lot of time reviewing and planning for the future. With a clear focus, we are preparing new and exciting initiatives to be launched in early 2021 – all aimed at improving the customer experience.”

The first award went to the team at Bert Levenson Insurance Brokers in recognition of their 20-plus-year relationship with CIB.

CIB Executive Head of Sales and Marketing, Jon-Jon Smit, shared the rationale behind the prestigious award: “These gentlemen backed CIB as a business when we started taking risk some 20 years ago, and have become absolute stalwarts of the industry. They are also our biggest supporters and critics, and have guided us for many years. Today we salute you and thank you for your loyalty, support and friendship.”

Russell Sourgen, Digby Levenson and Gavan Levenson collected the award, and each delivered powerful impromptu words to the CIB team.

The awards were divided into premium income categories, and the winner in each category was decided based on growth, profitability and like-mindedness over a 12-month period.

And the winners were:

Corporate broker of the year: FNB Insurance Brokers

New broker of the year: Woodbridge Group

Silver broker of the year (Compendium Insurance Group.

Gold broker of the year (R5m to R25m API): 3rd Place - Risk Sure Insurance Brokers, 2nd Place - FNB Fairlands and 1st Place awarded to 1.618 Short Term Solutions.

Diamond broker of the year (>R25m API): 3rd Place – Phoenix Risk Solutions, 2nd Place - Econorisk and 1st Place awarded to PSG Meesterplan.

The winners each received a beautiful CIB-branded fire extinguisher in line with CIB’s strategy on risk management, along with a trophy and certificate to adorn their offices.

Congratulations to all the winners!
