Sanlam Employee Benefits (SEB) has scooped two top major industry awards in the space of two weeks, recognition that emphasises the retirement solution provider’s high standard of delivery and cements its position as one of the industry’s leaders. SEB was awarded the Principal Officers Association (POA) Imbasa Yegolide Award for best umbrella fund of the year as well as being voted one of the best employee benefits administrators and consultants by Professional Management Research (PMR) in its well respected annual industry survey.

Paul Myeza, CEO of SEB expressed his delight over the industry accolades. “We are extremely pleased that our hard work and commitment have been recognised by these industry bodies, particularly because many of our clients and important stakeholders are active members. We are dedicated to the delivery of world class client service and are proud that this has been acknowledged by these awards. We will continue to work at upholding this level of excellence across our entire business.”

The Imbasa Yegolide Awards, a collaboration between the POA and Global Pensions which was held on 31 May 2010, allows principal officers in the retirement industry to recognise excellent service to retirement funds. SEB’s award for umbrella fund of the year comes three years after the fund’s launch, when it announced its aim to become a market leader in exactly that time frame. The award has distinguished SEB as an industry leader allowing it to meet its objective almost to the day.

SEB also achieved first position and Gold Status for both group life/ risk products and group pension and provident funds in the PMR survey, thereby becoming the only industry player with two first positions. The survey, which is conducted among listed and large companies in South Africa, focuses on group life/ risk products, group pension and provident funds and investment products. A total of 199 financial and human resource managers and directors, senior brokers and senior managers dealing directly with employee benefit schemes were interviewed as part of the survey.

Myeza believes that the awards are the result of collective hard work and focus. “It is because of the efforts of the SEB staff as a whole and each of them can be justifiably proud of this achievement. This recognition from our peers inspires us to continue to uphold this standard, to overcome obstacles and to relentlessly pursue the best interests of our clients by becoming the undisputed industry leader.”
