Riskonet Africa Recognised as Leading South African Risk Firm

19 October 2023 Riskonet Africa

Riskonet Africa is honoured to have been awarded the industry-specific award for professional services by The Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA).

The award was made at the IRMSA Annual Awards Ceremony last week preceded by IRMSA’s Annual Conference and Masterclass that saw industry leaders from across Africa gather at the Gallagher Convention Centre for three days of insights, networking, and exhibitions, culminating in the awards ceremony on 12 October.

This achievement, recognising Riskonet Africa as a top provider of risk and insurance support services in front of our peers and colleagues, is a testament to our organisation’s dedication to risk excellence on the African continent. It also reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing risk proficiency in Africa.

Riskonet CEO Chris Brits says: "The team at Riskonet Africa continually demonstrates an exceptional commitment to providing the pinnacle of risk expertise and optimal solutions for our clients. Our sincere gratitude goes out to IRMSA for this recognition and the faith they’ve vested in Riskonet Africa as frontrunners in the industry."
Brits says risk management in South Africa is a crucial discipline given the intricate socio-economic and political environment.

"Considering the national challenges, including economic disparities, currency volatility, political unrest, pronounced crime rates, energy concerns, and logistics capacity, it's evident that these factors not only cause unpredictability but also necessitate that enterprises exhibit agility, responsiveness, and foresight in their risk mitigation approaches."

Principal of Strategic Risk at Riskonet Volker von Widdern was invited to contribute his insights on two panels during the IRMSA ESG Masterclass that delved into the pivotal measurement principles for ESG, emphasising a thorough evaluation of business operations' carbon footprint and the environmental repercussions of alternative energy sources.

Brits also says the company would like to express its appreciation to Volker for his invaluable contribution to the risk discourse in South Africa. His insights and expertise have played an instrumental role in shaping the risk landscape.

"The entirety of the IRMSA event – from the Conference to the Masterclass and Awards Dinner – marks a significant milestone for Riskonet Africa. We are immensely thankful for the recognition, the chance to engage with remarkable organisations, and the renewed motivation to pursue excellence in every risk management endeavour we undertake," Brits concludes.
