PPS was awarded HR Team of the Year at the recent Institute of People Management (IPM) Excellence 2014 awards hosted at Sun City last week, which recognises superior and excellent performance amongst business and HR Leaders. The conference was attended by 800 delegates and was sponsored by BHP Billiton, Sasol and EOH.

The HR Team of the Year award is evaluated according to the effectiveness demonstrated by a team in delivering tangible results for employees and the business. Some of the attributes on which the award is based include: innovation, transformation, change management and the implementation of projects and best practices.

Rama Govenden, Executive: HR at PPS, says the award is testament to the drive and passion within the entire HR function at PPS. “To truly deliver tangible business results, it requires the skill of a full team and it is a privilege to know that the passion and dedication of the PPS HR team has been recognised by this leading award.”

At PPS we have a clear focus on delivering effective transformational change, through a variety of methods including change management programmes, driving employment equity targets and creating an employment equity pipeline, says Govenden. “We have single-mindedly engaged in building a sustainable HR framework which aligns and drives business objectives and at the same time engages and retains staff. Everything we do is geared to delivering competent and motivated staff. This entails creating an enabling environment for real passion, creativity and growth of people to happen for achieving clear deliverables, which has resulted in a strong employer brand and proposition.”

Govenden further notes that PPS’ CSI and charity programmes, business partnership model and existing performance management structures were also key to winning the award.

“We are truly proud to have won an award that recognises the efforts of the entire HR team at PPS and we look forward to continuing to deliver results for both the business and our employees,” concludes Govenden.

In addition to the IPM award, PPS has won the Seal of Excellence for the fourth consecutive year in the Deloitte “Best Company to Work For”, which means that PPS has exceeded 75% employee satisfaction levels in the organisation.
