Old Mutual has once again been recognised for its top performing Global Equity Fund at the 2017 Raging Bull Awards, held in Johannesburg last night.
For the fifth consecutive year, the Old Mutual Global Equity Fund was awarded top performance by a Domestic Collective Investment Scheme for the three-year period ending 31 December 2016 in the category Best (SA-Domiciled) Global Equity General Fund. The Fund also took home the award for the best performance on the basis of risk-adjusted returns by a Domestic Collective Investment Scheme for the five-year period ended 31 December 2016 in the category (SA Domiciled) Global Equity General.
Now in its 21st year, the annual Raging Bull Awards recognises excellence in the asset management industry’s unit trust sector, and honours the managers of funds which have consistently delivered returns for local retail investors.
Launched in May 1995, the Global Equity Fund currently has R10.7 billion of funds under management, and is currently top quartile over all periods from 1 year to 21 years and since inception. The Fund, managed by Ian Heslop, Amadeo Alentorn and Mike Servent has returned 27.0% per annum over the five years to end December 2016 compared to the MSCI World Index of 23.4% per annum over the same period, and 12.2% per annum over ten years to end December 2016 versus the Index at 11.6% per annum.
Elize Botha, Managing Director of Old Mutual Unit Trusts, says that receiving this award highlights Old Mutual’s wealth of specialist investment knowledge and the calibre of expertise held by the investment professionals and analysts at Old Mutual.
Denominated in rands, the Global Equity Fund provides South African investors exposure to the best ideas across global equity markets, and seeks to offer investors diversified exposure to quality assets across the globe. “With exposure to top quality international brands including Apple, Amazon, Pfizer, Verizon, Intel and Microsoft, the Fund is suited to those wanting to build their own solutions or add additional offshore exposure to their portfolios,” says Botha.
“We are honoured to be recognised by the industry and will remain committed to service excellence and consistency as we strive to continue delivering favourable returns for investors,” says Botha.
Hywel George, Director of Investments at Old Mutual Investment Group, adds: “We are exceptionally proud of this recognition of the depth of our global footprint and the skill of our teams at Old Mutual.”
