Octomate Education: a leader in financial services education extols Standard Bank graduates

It was glitz and glamour when Standard Bank (Insurance and Asset Management: IAM) learners graduated with qualifications delivered by Octomate Education: a leader in financial services education on the 18 August 2023 at an event hosted at the majestic, Standard Bank CVOP Auditorium in Roodeport.

The event was well attended and graced by the Inseta CEO Ms. Gugu Mkhize, and her team. The Inseta provided funding for the programs. A total of 86 graduates had successfully completed qualifications in FETC: Long Term Insurance NQF level 4 and NC: Short Term Insurance NQF level 5.

The Learning Partner for Standard Bank (IAM), Mr. Jabulani Radebe introduced and welcomed all graduates, the Inseta Team, managers from IAM business and the Octomate Education team: the appointed learning provider.

Mr. Radebe provided a synopsis of the partnership which exists between the Inseta and Standard Bank. He was thankful to the Inseta for being a strategic stakeholder to the operations of Standard Bank (IAM) division.

Congratulating the graduates, the Head of Learning and Development in Standard Bank (IAM), Ms Faeeza Limbada expressed the joy which feels her heart, especially when they absorb many unemployed youths into permanent positions within Standard Bank after completing a learnerships. A total of 23 learners have been absorbed by the business into permanent positions from the unemployed learnership. She also congratulated the employed graduates and encouraged them to embrace the doors of opportunity created by participating and completing programmes arranged by Standard Bank. She said they have a responsibility to ensure they also positively change the lives of other people around them since they have been empowered. The world now awaits their contribution said Ms Limbada.

The Keynote address came from the Inseta CEO, Ms. Gugu Mkhize. Addressing the graduates, the Inseta CEO, encouraged the learners who have been absorbed and retained within Standard Bank to always portray a good attitude at work.

She denounced those who portray a bad attitude because they block future opportunities for the unemployed youths because some employers are not willing to offer unemployed graduates opportunities because of the bad experiences in the past. She encouraged the learners to throw themselves to the vast opportunities provided by the employer. She narrated the story of a learner who started as an intern but later developed professionally to be a Senior Legal Advisor with a Law degree financed through a programme applied through the employer and Inseta. She advised that is very important to be a pleasant person. She encouraged them to be dependable and to get the job done in the workplace.

Jubilations and ululations were the order of the day as the learners were called out to the podium to receive their graduation scrolls from the Inseta CEO Ms. Gugu Mkhize and the Learning Partner: Learning and Development, Standard Bank (IAM) Mr. Jabulani Radebe. Lights, camera and action from photographers and the attendees made the graduates feel special whilst they trend on different social media platforms with congratulatory messages.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines, the CEO of Octomate Education, Mr. Abbot Pfukwa, thanked the Standard Bank Learning and Development (IAM) for the opportunities they continue to provide to their employees, ensuring employees continuously develop professionally. The support provided by the Inseta allows for learners to complete accredited qualifications which produce of a well-polished employee, fit and proper for the workplace. The qualifications, we offer are well structured to ensure the learners are capacitated to deal with workplaces challenges and provide suitable solutions, said Mr. Abbot Pfukwa of Octomate Education.
