Nico van Gijsen

Nico van Gijsen, a regular contributor to publications on personal financial matters, has won the prestigious Media Award from the Financial Planning Institute (FPI).

Mr van Gijsen is the Managing Director of Finlac Risk & Legal Management. He is a member both of the FPI and the Fiduciary Institute of South Africa (FISA).

John Gibson, Chairman of FISA, said: “FISA congratulates Nico on this award. Through his writing, often with the use of case studies, he explains complex fiduciary concepts in an easy manner for the consumer public. His articles also serve to remind the public to use a FISA-registered practitioner for such matters. FISA has the power to disclipine its members and thus maintain high standards in the fiduciary industry.”

According to the FPI, the FPI Media Award is a new award introduced in 2011. It recognises an FPI member who is actively involved with and has made outstanding significant contributions to the media in the year of assessment to promote financial planning among consumers, the financial planning profession or the FPI.
