Investec recognised at the inaugural Africa structured products & alternative investments conference
Kenric Owen from Investec Structured Products.
Structured Retail Products, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Euromoney, hosted the first annual Africa structured products & alternative investments conference in Johannesburg on the 17th November. As well as hosting a one-day CPD-accredited training course, the event recognised the best performing structured product houses, with Investec taking home six awards on the night. Amongst these awards, was the coveted Best Performance in South Africa and Best Performance in Africa.
The awards, which cover the year to September 2016, come in addition to the ‘Best Distributor in Africa’ award, won at the SRP conference in Europe earlier this year, affirming the team’s position as a market leader in this area.
Kenric Owen from Investec Structured Products highlighted the role of structured products as part of a balanced portfolio: “South African advisors and investors are increasingly aware of the role of structured products in an investment strategy. The global uncertainty over the last year with events like Brexit, Nenegate and Trump’s election victory have seen investors looking to structured products to reduce volatility and downside risk from their portfolios.”
The awards sought to recognise the excellence of distributors, manufacturers and service providers in the domestic market. Winners were selected via market surveys of the buy-side as well as competitors, combined with independently verified volume and performance data by SRP.
“It is an honour to be recognised as a market leader by our clients and peers in a highly competitive industry,” added Owen.
