Franklin Templeton scoops three Raging Bull awards

Franklin Templeton Investments South Africa underlined its status as a specialist in offshore diversification by winning three Raging Bull certificates in the annual awards programme to celebrate outstanding achievement in the asset management industry.

The prestigious awards were presented to Michael King, Director: Africa, Franklin Templeton Investments, at an awards banquet in Illovo, Johannesburg.

The Franklin Global Small-Mid Cap Fund took top honours in the Offshore Global Equity, General category, while the Franklin US Opportunities Fund was named the top Offshore US Equity, General, Fund. The Franklin European Growth Fund led the Offshore Europe Equity, General, category.

Michael King commented: “Honours at the Raging Bulls underline the strength of our business proposition as we offer South African representation and closeness to local clients backed by international expertise in all the key overseas markets.

“The objective of all three funds is long-term capital appreciation, principally through commitment to equities in the targeted market or mix of markets.

“Recognition for the strong performance of these funds comes at a crucial time as the need for international portfolio diversification is more vital than ever.”

The Franklin European Growth Fund is benchmarked against the MSCI Europe Index and is managed from London by Michael Clements.

The Franklin Global Small-Mid Cap Fund is benchmarked against the MSCI World Small Cap Index and is managed from New York by Edwin Lugo.

The Franklin US Opportunities Fund is benchmarked against the Russell 3000 Growth Index and is managed from California by Grant Bowers.

Michael King added: “Meeting and beating the expectations of our investors is our principal aim, but it also satisfying to receive independent industry recognition for category-leading results across such important markets.”
