FPI announces top three for financial planner of the year award

07 June 2016 FPI

The Financial Planning Institute (FPI) of Southern Africa, has recently announced the names of the top three CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals who progressed to the third and final round of the 2016 FPI Financial Planner of the Year competition.

The Financial Planner of the Year Award is one of the most prominent public projects undertaken by FPI with the sole purpose of honouring outstanding financial planners from across South Africa. It is considered to be the highest accolade in the profession and the prestige attached to winning means it’s hotly contested

The top three CFP® professionals who made it to the final round include:

Bruce Fleming, CFP®, has been involved in the financial planning industry for approximately 20 years. He began his career as a legal advisor at Old Mutual, assisting some of the top financial planning businesses in the country. Prior to that Bruce was practice development manager at Acsis. In addition he has been consulting to private clients for the past 16 years, firstly at Consolidated Financial Planning and now as an advisory partner at Citadel Wealth Management.

His primary focus is on clients and what is best for them in achieving and maintaining their short, medium and long-term financial goals. He was a finalist in the prestigious FPI Financial Planner of the Year Award in 2014 and 2015.

Francois le Roux, CFP®, served on the Pretoria Attorneys’ Association Company Law Committee from 1997-1999. He was admitted as an Attorney in 1991, and was a partner in a Private Legal Practice in Pretoria until 2000. Francois, later joined Private Wealth Management as a financial planner in February 2001, gaining 15 years’ experience, achieving holistic lifestyle financial planning, in the affluent and high net worth market sectors.

He is a proud mentor to aspiring financial planners in the FPI Mentorship Programme.

Yolande Botha, CFP®, started her career as a pharmacist, but was dissatisfied with the day-to-day work and the little impact she would have on people’s lives. She then changed careers in 2002 and became a marketing consultant for Sanlam Life.

In 2006 Yolande joined Galileo Capital and found a home for her passion and outlook on life. She has been a CFP® professional since 2008 and currently holds the position as Head of Wealth Management in the Galileo Capital Wealth Management business.

In this final round, the three entrants will be required to present to a panel of judges on a selected topic and will be required to answer questions related to industry trends, topics, technical information and legislative changes. The question now is who will be presented the award and named the 2016 FPI Financial Planner of the Year as well as be appointed as the FPI and CFP® professional brand ambassador? All FPI award winners, including this prestigious award, will be announced at the 2016 FPI Awards Ceremony Gala Dinner to be held at the Sandton Convention Centre on Tuesday, 14 June 2016.

Book your seat for this year's Gala Dinner, hosted by Carte Blanche presenter Bongani Bingwa, with entertainment by SA comedian Aaron Mcilroy.
