Ashburton Investments wins three Raging Bull Awards

Ashburton Investments, the asset management business of the FirstRand Group, won three Raging Bull Awards for top performing funds at a ceremony in Cape Town last night.

The Raging Bull Awards cover domestic (South African domiciled) and offshore funds which are approved by the Financial Services Board (FSB).  

Ashburton Investments won for its Atlantic BCI Stable Income Fund as the Best South African Interest-Bearing Short Term Fund, and twice for the Ashburton Chindia Equity Fund - as Best Offshore Far East Equity General Fund and Best Offshore Far East Equity General Fund on a risk-adjusted basis.  

Boshoff Grobler, CEO of Ashburton Investments, said “We are very proud of our investment team for delivering on our promise to bring investors access to more. 

“Since the launch of our new generation asset manager we have added more capability to our traditional and non-traditional offering.”  

Grobler noted than Ashburton Investments had recently expanded its fixed income offering with the acquisition of Atlantic Asset Management into its fixed income stable.  

“It has already proved a winning decision.”  

Albert Botha, Fund Manager of the Atlantic BCI Stable Income Fund, added: “We are very excited about the award and what it signifies. We always aim to deliver the best for our clients and we will do our utmost to continue in this fashion.” 

Grobler said it was particularly pleasing that Ashburton Investments’ global focus and international reach had been recognised by the dual win for the Ashburton Chindia Equity Fund.   

“The group will continue to develop expertise and investment opportunities in more jurisdictions,” said Grobler.

The Raging Bull Awards recognise the stars of the collective investment industry in terms of top performers, best risk-adjusted performers and the best unit trust management companies in various categories.  

They are in their twentieth year.
