AIG South Africa named best insurer in Euromoney Insurance Survey
Also recognised as Best for Innovation and Best Product Range
AIG South Africa today announced it has been named Best Insurer in Euromoney’s second annual Insurance survey.
Respondents also selected AIG South Africa Limited as Best for Innovation and Best Product Range in South Africa.
More than 400 risk managers, treasurers, chief financial officers and other direct buyers of insurance at the top companies in 59 countries were polled for the survey. Respondents were asked to rank the best insurers, brokers and also the best companies providing alternative mechanisms for risk transfer.
“We are honoured that AIG South Africa has been named Best Insurer, Best Product Range, and Best for Innovation,” said Peter Flint (pictured), Regional President and Chief Executive Officer, AIG Africa.
“We find these results especially rewarding because we were selected by the very executives making the insurance decisions. This recognition is testament to our ongoing commitment to meet our customers’ insurance needs by providing disciplined underwriting, claims-paying ability and superior service.”
AIG South Africa is part of the AIU network of companies, which was ranked first in more categories than any other company included in the survey. Globally, AIU was named Top Insurance Provider in the world and ranked first in four global categories: product range, innovation, price and claims resolution.
“This recognition is very timely as we are in the midst of creating the recently announced AIU Holdings entity which will stand distinct and separate from AIG Inc. It will have its own substantial capital and will rank amongst the largest network Property & Casualty insurers in the world,” added Flint.
The Euromoney survey was conducted in four parts from October 27, 2008 through December19, 2008.
AIG South Africa Limited is separately capitalised from AIG Inc. The local operations are highly regulated by South African insurance regulators and have maintained their world-class profitability.
