Program Overview

According to new research, the pensions and retirement funds industry in Africa and globally in general is facing the challenges of increasingly failing to generate sufficient returns to provide adequate and sustainable retirement incomes for its members. If pension funds are to remain sustainable there is an urgent need to improve the long-term solvency of pension plans. Broadening the range of investment choices and asset classes for example incorporating private markets to improve yield and explore opportunities to optimize costs are some of the solutions. Nonetheless, the increasing pressure from stakeholders to adopt responsible investing practices by incorporating Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) principles in the pension’s investment decision is adding another layer of new challenges in the pension funds investment trends.

This 2024 Africa Annual Pension Funds Conference is a paradigm shift from the past. The program is aimed at equipping the pensions trustees, fund and investment managers, insurances, governing bodies, authorities, regulators and all the stakeholders with new lens, operating models that reduces time to market for new investment strategies, enables adoption of technology innovations to provide a competitive edge, at the same time providing mature data management capabilities in order to improve decision-making, and improves operational efficiency and performance.
