Zurich appoints William Surmon as National Head of Sales

Zurich Insurance Company South Africa (Zurich) is pleased to announce the appointment of William Surmon to the position of National Head of Sales with effect from 1 April 2012.

Having held a number of key sales, management and directorial positions, Surmon brings over 20 years of experience to Zurich. His most recent role as General Manager of External Relationships and Enablement’s at Absa Home Loans, focused on the optimisation of sales and distribution, including originators and internal distribution channels.

“William’s broad and diverse leadership and sales experience is exactly what we need to accelerate our strategy to grow our business profitably,” said Chris Grieve, Executive Head of Sales and Market Underwriting. “His extensive sales knowledge, strategic experience and business development skills are going to be a strong asset to the Zurich management team.”

William’s core responsibilities will include leading and directing the sales team as well as overseeing the overall strategic and operational direction for all sales activities. Additionally, he will ensure delivery against business and financial objectives across all target segments and distribution channels, nationally and regionally.

Grieve concluded: “We are confident that his expertise will enable us to further develop our sales strategies to strengthen Zurich’s market position.”
