Willis South Africa has announced changes to its leadership team. George Bishop is now CEO, and will run the business from its Johannesburg HQ, while Ryck Genis is Deputy CEO, based in the Cape Town office.

The two have effectively switched roles: Ryck was CEO for eight years while George joined Willis as Deputy CEO in October 2014 from Marsh. The move is prompted by Ryck’s wish to move to Cape Town for family reasons.

Toby Wemyss, Regional CEO of Willis Central Europe Middle East & Africa, said: “This is a compelling refresh for Willis South Africa that retains and draws on the skills and expertise of two senior leaders. George is a hugely experienced professional who will manage and lead the overall business, while Ryck will now drive our revenues out of the Western Cape and help with the integration of a recent acquisition.

“South Africa is very important to Willis both as a growth market in its own right and as a gateway into Africa. These changes allow us to maximise our ability to take advantage of the many opportunities emerging on that continent.”
