Well known insurance personality, Christelle Fourie returns to lead MUA
Today sees Christelle Fourie rejoin MUA Insurance Acceptances as Chief Executive Officer. Fourie was instrumental in developing the company’s product portfolio in 2006 to include property and contents insurance for high-net worth individuals. She returns with strong industry knowledge in specialised insurance as well as a passion for excellence and unbounded enthusiasm for client service and delivery – key MUA qualities.
As the insurance industry as a whole faces tough times, Fourie (37) faces a challenging tenure at the helm of one of South Africa’s oldest and most successful specialist insurance underwriting agencies. Since being appointed the new CEO of MUA Insurance Acceptances, she sees her key role as identifying the areas of improvement with a specific focus on efficiency, service delivery and strong financial management.
“MUA was one of the very first underwriting managers established 21 years ago and the company has a wealth of expertise and knowledge of insuring the personal assets of high-net worth individuals,” says Fourie.“It is absolutely critical in these challenging times, to run a very tight ship and ensure premium increases, if required, are kept at acceptable and affordable levels.”
MUA itself has also experienced change in recent years. With the passing of its founder, Robert Hudson in 2008 and the subsequent purchasing of his shares by Hannover Re through its investment holding group, Lireas Holdings, MUA has reverted to an underwriting agency underwriting on behalf of Compass Insurance Company Limited.
With the financial strength and solidity of such partners behind her, Fourie looks forward to continuing to grow and entrench MUA’s hold on the executive insurance market – we watch with great anticipation.
