18 April 2013 | People and Companies | Appointments | The Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance

The Board of Directors of the Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance has appointed Edite Texeira-McKinon as Deputy Ombudsman with immediate effect. Edite is an admitted attorney, having obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree through the University of Nat

Edite is well known in the short-term insurance industry, having worked in the industry since being admitted as an attorney in 1990. She has worked for several insurers and brokers in dispute resolution, claims, client services and litigation departments. In July 2010 Edite was appointed as General Manager for the Office of the Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance. She also previously held the position of Senior Assistant Ombudsman with the Office.

“Edite will primarily be involved in liaising with insurers and complainants in the resolution of disputed claims. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role, which makes her well qualified to take on other responsibilities delegated to her. The role of Deputy Ombudsman requires a person who has all-round skills requiring not only a knowledge of insurance law and practice, but a tactful manner in handling disputes”, says Dennis Jooste, Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance.
