27 August 2012 Swiss Re

Swiss Re announces today it has appointed Frank O'Neill as Market Executive for the company's reinsurance operations in the Middle East & Africa region, effective 1 January 2013. Based in Cape Town, he will report to Swiss Re's Reinsurance EMEA CEO Jean-J

In his new function, Mr. O'Neill will assume responsibility for Swiss Re's Life & Health (L&H) and Property & Casualty (P&C) business in a region that the Swiss Re Group considers strategic for future business growth. The P&C business, however, will continue to be underwritten from Swiss Re's Zurich office.

Mr. O'Neill succeeds Bruce Hodkinson who has been responsible for Swiss Re's Middle East & Africa region clients for the past seven years and will now focus on the firm's L&H Continental Europe operations.

"We are delighted that Frank has decided to accept the challenge of heading a region that holds great business potential for us," said Jean-Jacques Henchoz. "As a South African national with extensive professional experience in four continents – Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas – Frank's expertise and knowledge will benefit our L&H and P&C clients in the Middle East & Africa region as we continue working on establishing long-term relationships with them."
