The Stonehage Group, an independent global Multi Family Office, announced that, with effect from 1 November 2013, Eddy Oblowitz has been appointed to the Stonehage Group Board as a Director and as Chairman of the Group Risk, Audit and Compliance Committee. He has also been appointed as Executive Chairman of Stonehage South Africa where he will assume responsibility for governance, oversight and mentoring of the South African Board and employees and to assist in growing the business.

As a result of these changes, Johan van Zyl has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Stonehage South Africa, also with effect from 1 November 2013. In his expanded role, Johan will continue to be responsible for the firm’s investment business in South Africa.

As an Executive Director of the Stonehage Group, Eddy remains fully employed by the Group and will continue to act as a trusted adviser to clients. He will also continue to serve as a non-executive director of various listed and unlisted companies.

"Together with the team, Eddy has built our South African operation over the past ten years from a handful of individuals to the respected firm it is today. His expertise and experience will add great value to the Stonehage Group Board and the Audit Committee and we look forward to him applying this for the Group’s benefit. Since joining the Group in 2010, Johan has achieved great success in establishing our investment business in South Africa and I am confident he will excel in his new role,” comments Giuseppe Ciucci, CEO, Stonehage Group.

"In my capacity as a member of the Stonehage Group Board and as Executive Chairman of Stonehage South Africa, I look forward to playing an active role in a number of strategic projects within the wider Group to further our unique proposition as a leading international Multi Family Office,” adds Oblowitz.

"I am excited to take on the challenge of this new role and look forward to building on the success achieved by our South African business under Eddy’s leadership and continuing to work with Eddy. We have a highly experienced and talented team and I look forward to working with them to grow our business and to continue providing a high quality service to our clients,” says van Zyl.
