STANLIB has appointed Mark Lovett, an investment professional with over 30 years’ experience in the global asset management industry, as head of investments effective 1 July 2018.
“We are delighted to welcome Mark to our team,” said STANLIB CEO Derrick Msibi. “He brings a depth of business and investment experience across asset classes. As part of senior management teams, he has played a central role in lifting the investment credibility of three separate asset management firms.
“Mark will be working in close partnership with the heads of our investment capabilities to drive investment performance and will also give input into the strategic development of STANLIB as an asset management business.”
Before joining STANLIB, Mark was chief investment officer: equities at Nordea Asset Management, where he was responsible for the equities, private equity and responsible investments businesses across four countries. At Nordea, Mark successfully implemented his mandate to improve investment performance across his business responsibilities and optimise the boutique structure.
During his decade at Allianz Global Investors, Mark helped turn around the European equities business, which was split between London and Frankfurt, allowing it to grow as a core part of the group’s European platform. As deputy chief investment officer at Ignis Asset Management, Mark successfully formulated and implemented a strategy to grow the business through turning around investment performance and driving growth through new products.
Mark started his career at Baring Asset Management. He holds the Securities Industry Qualification in Investment Analysis and Fund Management.
On joining the STANLIB stable, Mark says, “I am looking forward to the challenge that STANLIB offers. With its depth of investment expertise and breadth of capabilities, it is a success story in the making.”
