Hans Schollenberger.

Emerald has announced staff changes.

Hans Schollenberger will be concentrating all of his efforts on his role as Executive Head of Underwriting and Risk. In this role, Hans has been required to relinquish his position as a Portfolio Executive and team leader, and as such Hans will no longer have day to day operational responsibility for a single portfolio. He will of course have overall responsibility for all of the underwriting teams. As a result of all of this, a vacancy was created for a Portfolio Executive position and we have decided to appoint Glenn Stoneham in that position. I’m sure that you will all join me in congratulating Glenn in this new role.

To strengthen and extend our underwriting capabilities we have all been working hard in growing the underwriting skills and experience in this area. I have been extremely pleased and heartened by the hard work and commitment of everyone involved. It gives me great pleasure to advise that we have decided to also give underwriting authority to Hanli de Ridder, Richard Lay, David van der Merwe and Vinnie da Silva. This means that they will have the ability to accept and sign off on risks up to the level of their authority. This authority therefore carries with it significant responsibility, but we are completely confident that they will flourish in their new roles and responsibilities.

Lastly we have made two structural team changes. Linda Dyer has kindly agreed to move to Michaela Phillips’s team, and Vinnie da Silva will be moving to Mary Driscoll’s team where he will become more involved over time with our strategic Africa project under Mary’s leadership.

These are exciting developments in a challenging environment and I have no doubt that these changes make us a stronger and more robust company, able to meet the needs of our intermediary partners and their clients more effectively.
