CIB Insurance Administrators (CIB) has appointed Rex Tomlinson as Chairman of its Board.

The appointment is in line with CIB’s intended strategy of obtaining its short-term insurance licence and the introduction of institutional shareholders as partners in CIB. CIB will continue to strengthen its board in line with the requirements of obtaining its licence and the introduction of institutional investors.

Tomlinson, the former Deputy Group CEO of Liberty Holdings Limited until June 2010, brings with him extensive experience in the financial services sector, as well as a solid background in sound corporate governance.

Douglas Donnelly, CEO of CIB, says of the appointment, “Rex has the right cultural fit and background that CIB will need going into the next phase of its life. The appointment of Rex as Chairman is key to steering us through the complexities of being a new licensed insurer. I believe Rex has the right pedigree to bring the vision alive of making CIB a world-class broker-driven insurer that the professional broker wants to deal with.”

Tomlinson says, “While not directly involved in CIB as a business, I have over the last year or so been able to observe CIB’s executive team in action. I have been impressed at the insightfulness and balance between their passion and belief in the vision for CIB and the realities of the challenges and changes required to achieve it. I am looking forward to supporting Douglas and the other working members of the Board in making a positive contribution to ensuring that CIB fulfills the promise it has as a business.”
