Rael Bloom – new CIO for SYmmETRY

SYmmETRY Multi-Manager, a member of Old Mutual Investment Group (SA) (OMIGSA), has announced the appointment of Rael Bloom (pictured right) as Chief Investment Officer with effect from 1 June, 2008.

Bloom assumes full responsibility for the investment performance of each of SYmmETRY’s investment building blocks: Equities, Fixed Interest, Absolute, Hedge and International.

Commenting o­n Bloom’s appointment, SYmmeTRY CEO Raymond Berelowitz said: “We have become known for our ability to be really innovative in searching for performance and Rael will champion this going forward in each of the asset class building blocks we run.”

Bloom joined SYmmETRY in 2004 as a product development specialist before moving o­n to the Manager Research team in 2007, where he was responsible for the international portion of the group’s portfolios.

He studied business science at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and graduated in 1999 with an honours degree in Finance and Information Systems. He worked as a business analyst in the information systems field for a number of years while studying actuarial science, and qualified as an actuary in 2006.

Berelowitz added: “I would like to wish him the best of luck in this new and exciting role.”
