06 May 2009 | People and Companies | Appointments | Third Circle

Dr Louwrence D Erasmus, a systems engineer with experience in the local and international nuclear industries, has been appointed in the advisory committee of the Pretoria asset management company Third Circle.

40-year-old Dr Erasmus works as a systems engineer at the PBMR (for Pebble Bed Modular Reactor) Company in Centurion and has been an expert consultant the past four years at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) where he successfully honed his negotiation skills in a multi-cultural environment.

In 2004 he won the PBMR CEO Award and in 2006 Escom’s Quality Achiever Award for his national and international contribution to the classification of structures, systems and components on nuclear power plants.

Dr Erasmus is a registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), a senior member of the South African Institute for Electrical Engineers (SAIEE), a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE), a member of the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) and an advisor to the Open Knowledge Simulation Modeling (OKSIMO) Project of Frankfurt in Germany.

Dr Erasmus, who lives with his wife and two daughters in the Pretoria suburb of Wierda Park, says his experience as a systems engineer stands him in good stead in an asset management environment as he’s used to working with figures and finding solutions to complex problems in a multidisciplinary team.

Third Circle MD Hugo Snyman says Dr Erasmus’s appointment as an advisor to his company is proof of Third Circle’s belief in diversity – in management as well as in the investment potential of the asset management industry.
