Gerhard Van Emmenis has been appointed the Principal Officer of Bonitas Medical Fund with effect from 1 July 2017.

‘Bonitas has always been committed to making healthcare affordable for all South Africans,’ says Van Emmenis. ‘To achieve this we act in the best interests of our members at all times. I want to thank the Executive Team and Board for having the confidence in me to take on the role of Principal Officer. Together we will work towards ensuring the growth and sustainability of Bonitas.’

Van Emmenis has been part of the Scheme’s Executive Team since 2006 when he joined as Chief Operations Officer. He stepped in as Acting Principal Officer in January this year.

Van Emmenis holds a MCom qualification from the University of Pretoria and a Diploma in Healthcare Management from the University of Luton in the UK. He has extensive experience in the healthcare industry having been part of the industry for over 30 years. He served as the Principal Officer of two medical schemes before joining Bonitas.
