Price Forbes (Pty) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Price Forbes in London, has appointed Sophie Maggs as the Head of its Technical division, effective 01 July 2016.

Warren Bolttler, CEO of Price Forbes says Maggs will be taking over the leadership role of the company’s technical team, with particular focus on improving and enhancing technical service delivery to clients, improving SLA performance on contract delivery, enhancing market relationships and negotiating deals and terms for clients.

Maggs, who has been with Price Forbes for three years, has made significant contributions in all areas of the business. She has been integrally involved in the mining sector, in business development in the energy and construction sectors and in strategy ownership for Africa. She has also overseen the development of new and innovative products and solutions in the corporate landscape.

Maggs began her career as a Country Analyst to a War and Terrorism underwriting syndicate in the Lloyds of London Market and has a Masters Degree in Development Studies from the University of London. She started with Alexander Forbes Risk Services, then moved to Marsh for five years before joining Price Forbes. She has managed insurance programmes for a number of mines in a range of sectors including platinum, coal, phosphate rock, and lime. She has also recently completed a Programme for Management Development at the Gordon Institute of Business Studies.

Maggs will be supported by a strong team including David Rose-Innes as strategic technical advisor, primarily responsible for ownership of Price Forbes insurance products and policy wordings. Rose-Innes joined Price Forbes in November 2015 and brings with him a wealth of experience in all areas of corporate broking and technical delivery. He has 46 years of corporate business insurance experience and has worked across most industry sectors including petroleum, food, pharmaceutical, rail, ports and terminals. He also spent 10 years working in Canada, and most recently spent 9 years with Aon South Africa, where he was involved in servicing incoming international accounts.

Within the new technical team, reporting to Maggs, Patience Nzimande will assume responsibility for broking, deal making and associated disciplines in the overall technical delivery process and Theresa Van Der Ross, will take care of the closings function, including contract certainty and providing a compliant documentary completion process for new and existing clients.

The Gauteng-based team is supplemented and supported by Ilse Mathee in Stellenbosch. Mathee is the senior technical broker supporting Price Forbes’ Western Cape based business activity.

“Over the last six months we have been strengthening and reorganising our team in order to enhance our technical offering and client-facing capabilities. I am excited about the passion, energy and knowledge Maggs and Rose-Innes will bring to the new transformed team,” concludes Bolttler.
