Prescient announces the appointment of Moneen d’Hotman de Villiers as Head of Legal and Compliance.

Commenting on the appointment, CEO Carey Millerd says “with the increased legislative and governance requirements the business believed that this warranted the appointment of a full time person to this function”.

Moneen will be responsible for monitoring compliance throughout the businesses and performing all aspects of the legal work for the Group’s operations in South Africa and abroad. This includes implementation and monitoring of legislative and operational requirements; drafting and vetting of contracts; drafting policies and procedure notes; keeping abreast of the latest legislative changes; influencing draft legislation, as well as liaising with the regulatory authorities and other industry players.

Moneen’s business experience includes:

· Attorney, Nicholson, Stiller and Geshen, Durban;

· Senior Legal Advisor, Old Mutual;

· Head: Legal and Compliance, Old Mutual Unit Trusts;

 

· Head: Legal, Fairbairn Capital;

· Head: Legal, Product and Services Delivery, Old Mutual – 17 years in Old Mutual;

· Group Legal and Compliance Officer, Foord Asset Management (Pty) Ltd and Foord Unit Trusts Limited

Moneen has sat on various industry committees/initiatives, such as the ASISA Governance Standing Committee, the Tax Committee and the Foreign CIS Committee as well as the Compliance Institute’s Asset Management Committee. She is a member of the Institute of Retirement Funds and the Principal Officers Association.
