Reagan Mitchell, Managing Director of Phoenix Financial Planning Services (PFPS)

Phoenix Financial Services Group (PFSG) has today announced the appointment of Mr Reagan Mitchell CFP® as Managing Director of Phoenix Financial Planning Services (PFSP) (Pty) Ltd.

PFPS is a subsidiary of PFSG and provides consumers with bespoke independent financial planning services, products and advice.

Mitchell holds the CFP® designation and has over 15 years’ experience having worked for Telesure Investment Holdings, 1Life, Nedbank, FNB and Liberty Life. He is also the cofounder and director of both StokPowa and WealthyMe. As managing director of PFSP, Mitchell will hold an equity shareholding within the business.

Clayton Samsodien, PFSG CEO says, “We are pleased and excited to have someone of Reagan’s calibre heading up a crucial operation within our group. We continue to build breadth and our acquisitive hiring strategy aims to secure appointments of highly skilled, qualified people with gravitas who share similar beliefs, values and culture as this will allow us to scale the business.”

Says Mitchell, “I am grateful to be joining PFSG and believe there are extensive opportunities to expand our offering especially during this crucial time. It is a great honour for me to be a member of an organisation that is set to disrupt business models in the financial planning and services space. In a time where digital transformation is no longer a choice, but a must, PFPS is perfectly poised to serve the needs of our customers in the most dynamic way possible. I look forward to creating immense value for our customers, shareholders, and our financial planning partners.”

PFPS has a unique model offering qualified financial planners an agreed practice fee remuneration package commensurate with experience instead of a commission only structure. More experienced financial planners will benefit from competitive commission scales and hybrid upfront and recurring structures.

The entity has a recognised and significant client base which it intends to expand while continuing to offer the following services:

• Life and Disability Cover
• Income Protection
• Education Planning
• Retirement Fund Planning
• Estate Planning
• Business Continuation Planning (Key Person Insurance)
• Succession Planning (Buy & Sell arrangements)
• Funeral Plans
• Wills, Trusts and Estates

Both Samsodien and Mitchell are of the view that now more than ever given the impact of the pandemic, consumers need to conduct a full review of their insurance needs to optimise their spending.
