• Phil Curtis succeeds Melanie Gillig who moves to a senior role at Allianz Group HR leading future work initiatives across all Allianz entities and locations in Germany.

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS), the corporate insurance carrier of Allianz Group, announces the appointment of Phil Curtis as new Global Head of Human Resources (HR) effective April 1, 2022. He succeeds Dr Melanie Gillig, who moves to Allianz SE as Program Lead Future Work. As a key global line in the Property & Casualty business segment of Allianz Group, AGCS employs 4,250 staff of 83 nationalities in 31 countries.
Phil Curtis joins AGCS from his current role as Head of HR and Change at Allianz SE. In this role, he managed HR for 2,000 people working in Allianz Group’s headquarter unit. His previous HR management roles at Allianz included Head of Global HR Operations at Allianz Global Investors, and before joining the Group in 2012, he held a variety of HR management positions in global financial services companies such as UniCredit and UBS.
With his diverse experience across all facets of HR and people management, Curtis will drive various initiatives to make AGCS an employer of choice for both current and future staff. Priority areas of focus will be to attract, develop, and retain talent to support AGCS´ growth strategy as well as driving further the company’s cultural transformation journey. This includes highlighting a modern workplace in an agile environment as well as wellbeing and diversity and inclusion. Together with his team of globally based HR professionals, he will also continue to work on simplifying HR processes and driving data quality to allow for the strategic steering of people management topics.

Dr Gillig originally joined Allianz Group in 2007 and has been with AGCS since January 2015, first as Regional Head of HR for CEE before moving into the role of Global Head of HR in January 2020. Further details can be found here.
