Novare boosts capacity with new appointments

Novare, the diversified pan-African financial services group, has announced a number of appointments to boost capacity in its various businesses.

Thapelo Tshenye has been appointed Head of Manager Research at independent investment consultants, Novare Actuaries and Consultants. With an M.Sc (Astrophysics and Space Science), Thapelo started his career at Coronation Fund Managers in 2006. He joined Polus Capital in 2008 co-managing the statistical arbitrage hedge fund before moving to Stanlib Multi-Manager as a research analyst in August 2010.

Neil Verster has been appointed Head of Strategy Formulation at Novare Actuaries and Consultants. He holds BSc (Hons) (Finance) degree from University of Cape Town and is a fellow of the Actuarial Society of SA. He joined RisCura in 2010 as an investment analyst and in 2012 moved to Old Mutual as intermediate capital modelling actuary. Neil is responsible for asset liability modelling to assist clients in determining the optimal asset allocation for their portfolios.

Kerry Foxall has joined Novare Actuaries and Consultants as a Senior Fund Manager responsible for advising pension scheme trustees, formulating investment strategies and for conducting due diligence reviews on prospective investments. She is part of the manager research team within the Novare group. Kerry has a BSc (Hons) (Actuarial Mathematics) degree from University of Pretoria. She started her career as an actuarial analyst at Alexander Forbes and then joined Mercer Limited, an employee benefits and investment firm based in the UK in 2007 as a senior actuarial analyst.

Yonela Makwetu has been appointed an Investment Analyst at Novare Investments, a specialist multi-manager providing solutions to institutional and retail clients. Yonela holds BComm (Economics and Statistics) and Honours (Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management) degree from the University of Cape Town. Before joining Novare, she worked for Glacier International as a product and investment support consultant. Yonela is a member of the manager research team and assists with due diligence for Novare’s domestic and international fund offerings.

Lorego Whittles has joined Novare Holdings as IT Administrator, assisting the head of information technology with managing the IT-related services required by the company.
