New senior appointments at OMIGSA

Old Mutual Investment Group SA (OMIGSA) named Ben Kodisang as the group’s new Head of Distribution, Marketing and Strategy, while Peter Levett has been appointed as the Managing Director of Old Mutual Property (OMP).

“We at OMIGSA are very pleased to have two men of such high calibre, skills and experience to help us further expand and improve our business,” said OMIGSA CEO Diane Radley.

Previously, Kodisang was the MD of Old Mutual Property, where he successfully oversaw the growth of the OMP property portfolio to include some of South Africa’s largest and most prestigious commercial properties, as well as its expansion overseas, notably in India. He has also been very active in the local property industry, serving as President of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) and Chairman of Wesgro (Western Province Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), among other organisations.

“While many know Ben as a property man, his background is actually in asset management,” added Radley. “He started out at Liberty Asset Management in 1996 where he was a Senior Investments Manager. In 1998 Ben helped found Prodigy Asset Management where he also served as Director, and from 2000 he was CIO and Director at African Harvest Fund Managers.

“In his new role, he will be playing a pivotal part in assisting us with identifying new opportunities for growth in our asset management business across the Emerging Markets in which the group operates, in line with the Old Mutual plc vision of better leveraging off the global strengths of the group worldwide.”

Meanwhile, Peter Levett has a strong understanding of the OMP business, having served o­n its Board of Directors for over 10 years. He joined OMIGSA in October 2007 as Head of Strategic Projects and Business Development, before moving o­n to become, most recently, Cluster Head and Chief Operating Officer. He was also Head of Corporate Finance at Old Mutual for nine years before joining OMIGSA.
