New hire underlines Investec Asset Management’s commitment to credit offering

25 June 2009 Investec Asset Management

Investec Asset Management is pleased to announce the appointment in London of Jeff Burch to its 31-strong global fixed income team. Burch will jointly head up the credit teams along with Simon Howie.

Burch joins from Blue Mountain Capital, a specialist credit hedge fund, where he helped to build and ran the firm’s European credit operations and managed all European, Asian and African credit exposure. He was previously a Principal in the proprietary credit trading group at Bank of America following roles within the credit business at Morgan Stanley and Chase Securities. Burch has been named portfolio manager of the Investec Global Credit Opportunities Fund and will take responsibility for the day-to-day working of the specialist credit team.

The Investec Fixed Income team’s proprietary credit process uses a top-down thematic approach combined with bottom-up analysis and covers a global opportunity set.

André Roux, co-Head of Fixed Income, commented:

“The appointment of Jeff Burch demonstrates our commitment not only to our robust fixed income offering, but also to the compelling opportunities we see in credit.

“The Fixed Income team has maintained its momentum into 2009, and with Jeff’s valuable experience and credit expertise we hope to continue building upon the excellent track record we have developed.”
