New board of directors appointment for Camargue Underwriting Managers
Camargue Underwriting Managers, specialist underwriters in financial lines insurance, is proud to announce the appointment of Peter Downham to its board as Director Operations.
Downham has been associated with Camargue since the group's inception and joined the ranks of formal employ as Underwriting Manager in July 2004. Over the past two-and-a-half years and under his careful watch, the Pension Fund Trustee portfolio has grown in excess of 450 percent. In addition, Downham has taken responsibility for Policy Wordings and Internal compliance to Reinsurance Treaty's and FSB Regulations, successfully keeping the underwriting insurance firm on the straight and narrow during the past and ensuing period of exponential growth.
Having worked in the insurance industry for the past 37-years in both the UK and South Africa, 27 of which have been completed in a management capacity, it is little wonder that Camargue has come to rely heavily on his sound counsel in all strategic matters.
Downham brings to his new role numerous qualifications, the most significant being that of FCII (UK), FIISA & Chartered Insurance Practitioner. He has served on the Main & Education Committees of the Insurance Institute of Gauteng for a great number of years. His duties will encompass that of Executive Director responsible for policy administration, compliance, the branch network, general office administration and all line management, as well as staff reporting.
Says MD Mitch Marescia, "Camargue is proud and honoured to welcome Peter to this new position of significant responsibility. He is a valued addition to our Executive team and we know that he will continue in our company commitment to manage our clients' risks, rather than simply insuring them."
With approved coverholder status at Lloyd's of London, the firm offers several unique policies aimed at protecting employers against liability suits. These packages include: Directors & Officers Liability Policy; Employment Practice Liability (EPL); and Pension Fund Trustee Liability. Camargue's policies enable large organisations, as well as SMMEs, to focus on their business core competencies.
By partnering with the leading international society of underwriters, Lloyds of London and locally, with Centriq Insurance Company Ltd, Camargue can place business into the Lloyds market, extend its product offering to include the full range of financial lines products and continue to maintain its commitment to the local market.
