Rayelene Govender – General Manager: Internal Audit

Rayelene Govender has been appointed General Manager: Internal Audit at Medscheme, effective July 1 2010.

Govender has a BCom degree in risk management from Unisa and a number of certificates in auditing, project management and enterprise risk management, among others. She is currently studying towards her honours degree in strategic management at Unisa.

Govender started her career as a client relations adviser at Discovery in 2000 and was appointed risk manager from 2002 to 2004 and later senior internal auditor until 2008. She joined Medscheme in 2008 as senior risk manager. We wish her continued success in career development and growth within the Medscheme Group.


Howard John – General Manager: Branch Network, National Assessing and Facilities

Howard John has been appointed General Manager for the Medscheme Branch Network.

John has as BSc in Optometry from the University of KZN and an MBA from the University of Cardiff.

John practised as an optometrist before joining Medscheme in 2001, where he qualified as a Six Sigma Black Belt before being appointed a senior manager looking after the healthcare professionals call centre. We wish him success in his new role.
