Juan Erasmus has been appointed as Head of Compliance and Legal Services at CIB Insurance Administrators (CIB), an independent short-term insurance administrator. Prior to joining CIB, Erasmus became a partner at Claasen Attorneys in 2004, upon completing his articles. He also held positions as a compliance officer at PSG Konsult and the Head of the Legal and Compliance Department for one of the entities within the PSG Konsult group.

As part of the CIB team, Erasmus hopes to instil a culture of compliance and fairness towards clients within the company, as well as establish an effective and objective compliance department for the benefit of CIB, its employees, brokers and their clients. His duties will include, among others, supervising the compliance function, monitoring compliance with the FAIS Act and submission of compliance reports and related reports to the Registrar.

Alex MacRae has been appointed as Divisional Director of the Cape region at CIB Insurance Administrators (CIB), an independent short-term insurance administrator. Originally from Scotland, MacRae has over 30 years experience in the short-term insurance industry, in both technical and managerial disciplines.

Prior to joining CIB, MacRae has held managerial positions with Allianz in both Johannesburg and Cape Town and St Paul Insurance in Cape Town. He also assisted in the opening and managing of the Cape Town offices of the Kiln Group, insurance underwriters at Lloyd’s of London. In 2008, he was appointed Director of Claims and Underwriting for Royal and Sun Alliance Bahrain and Saudi Arabia (one of the largest UK insurers) and spent two years managing the Royal and Sun operation in Abu Dhabi.

As part of the CIB team, MacRae will be tasked with opening CIB’s Cape Town office. His duties will include, amongst others, to drive strategic profitable growth amongst CIB’s existing broker base in Cape Town and to identify new business partners. The opening of the Cape Office is in line with the CIB vision to be the preferred choice for professional brokers nationally, as well as to increase their brand presence throughout South Africa.
