New Absa Group Chief Risk Officer appointed

Absa is pleased to announce that Mr Jan Lubbe has been appointed to the position of Chief Risk Officer, with effect from 1 September 2010. He replaces David Hodnett who was appointed as Group Finance Director on 1 March 2010 and continued to lead the risk portfolio while a successor was being sought.

Mr Lubbe, a qualified chartered accountant, joins Absa after seven years at FirstRand, most recently as Chief Risk Officer, and brings extensive experience to this position. He will also serve as a member of the Absa Group Executive Committee and will report to the Absa Group Chief Executive, Ms Maria Ramos.

“We are delighted to welcome Jan to the team at Absa. He has the credentials that will stand him in good stead at Absa and we look forward to his contribution in this important role of Chief Risk Officer”, said Maria Ramos.
