Salvatore Nicolaci has been appointed as the new Group Manager for Business Systems Support at Mutual & Federal, one of South Africa’s leading short-term insurers. His appointment is effective from 1 October 2010.

Nicolaci will be overseeing the newly constituted Business Systems Support area, formerly known as Insurance Operations Support. Over the last 10 months, he has been acting in a Group Manager capacity within the Programme Management Office.

Nicolaci started his career in 1990 when he joined Mutual & Federal as a trainee programmer in the mainframe department. Over a period of five years, he moved through the ranks to become an Analyst Programmer. After a brief stint in the restaurant and wholesale supply business, he returned to Mutual & Federal and worked his way up to the position of IT Manager, and more recently, acting Group Manager for the Programme Management Office.

“Having already spent 17 years with us, Salvatore has extensive experience in the systems and process areas in Mutual & Federal,” said David Entwisle, Executive General Manager for IT and Business Support. “I believe he will have an extremely positive influence on the company’s strategic and operational functions.”

Mutual & Federal is a member of the Old Mutual Group.
