Momentum Insure appoints industry expert Francois Venter as Chief Risk Officer

Momentum Insure has announced the appointment of Francois Venter as Chief Risk Officer (CRO), effective 1 January 2026
Venter, a seasoned executive with over two decades of experience across global insurance and investment markets, joins Momentum Insure to lead its risk management strategy. His appointment highlights Momentum Insure’s commitment to robust governance and innovative risk mitigation in an increasingly volatile global landscape.
Venter brings a distinguished track record of managing complex business units, with specific expertise in product innovation, hedging strategies, and investment management. His career spans senior leadership roles both locally and internationally.
He first joined the Group (then Metropolitan Life) in 2004 as Head of Annuity Products. In 2009, he moved to Canada as Assistant Vice President for Hedging and Investment Strategies at Manulife Financial, where he honed his expertise in sophisticated risk modelling. Upon his return to South Africa in 2012, he joined Momentum Investments as the Head of Alternative Investments and Investment Products.
Most recently, Venter demonstrated his entrepreneurial acumen as a co-founder of Ctrl Technologies where he was instrumental in building and scaling an industry-first, multi-award-winning insurtec platform, overseeing product strategy, executive operations, and the risk management function.

Venter is a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (FASSA) and holds a BCom (Hons) in Actuarial Science from Stellenbosch University.
