MNK International continues expansion with the appointment of William Wakeham to lead new International Energy division

MNK International, a leading independent Lloyd’s broker, has appointed William Wakeham as Managing Director, International Energy to lead its new International Energy division.

The appointment supports MNK International’s ambition to build its energy broking proposition across emerging and specialist markets.

Wakeham brings more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, having worked with clients worldwide and developed particular expertise across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. His broking career has encompassed major conventional energy and oil and gas projects, alongside a growing focus on renewable energy projects for investors and developers, particularly in Southern Africa.

In his new role, Wakeham will set up and lead the development of MNK International’s energy broking capabilities across renewable energy, battery storage, data centres, grid infrastructure, conventional energy and energy security. The new division will focus on selected markets across Africa, the Middle East, Eastern and Southern Europe, the Baltics, Asia, Central America and South America, working with insureds, local brokers and cedants across these territories.

Wakeham will also oversee the continued growth of the division’s specialist team and the development of an engineering-led approach to risk. By engaging with clients from the early stages of each project, the team will seek to improve risk allocation, strengthen insurance submissions and help make projects more insurable, bankable and resilient.
