MMI Holdings Limited (MMI) has appointed Gerhard Kruger as the Head of MMI Corporate Finance. Kruger coordinated MMI transactions (including the recent acquisition of Guardrisk) as part of his role as Head of Capital Management within Balance Sheet Management. Going forward Kruger will provide a dedicated focus to evaluate and execute all MMI’s transactions.
Mary Vilakazi, MMI’s Chief Financial Officer says “given MMI’s levels of corporate activity, historically and going forward, a dedicated capacity at group level to oversee and manage all MMI’s merger and acquisition activities was required to achieve MMI’s planned strategic outcomes.“
Kruger has been with MMI for 18 years and completed his actuarial degree in 1990 at the University of Stellenbosch. Kruger has extensive experience in Corporate Finance having also been closely involved in the Metropolitan and Momentum merger in 2010, the biggest merger to date in the South African financial services industry.
