Metropolitan Asset Managers appoints new equity team members

Metropolitan Asset Managers (MetAM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Johan de Kock (pictured right) as head of equity research and portfolio manager of resource shares, with effect from 1 May 2008.

Over the past few months MetAM made a concerted effort to increase the number of individuals within their investment team. This includes the appointments of Romeo Makhubela, as chief investment officer (CIO), as well as Craig Whittle, as portfolio manager for small cap shares and the Metropolitan Industrial Fund, at the beginning of 2008.

Furthermore, Safs Narker, previously group investments product manager, joined the equity team as an equity analyst.

Johan was previously with Cadiz African Harvest Asset Management (Cadiz) as a senior portfolio manager for the Absolute Return area, where he gained valuable experience in managing multi-asset class portfolios. Prior to this, he headed up Active Investments at Cadiz, managing a range of specialist equity and balanced mandates.

Johan’s previous roles include CIO of Prodigy-Coris Asset Management, head of resources at Coris Capital and portfolio manager at Iscor Pension Fund. With more than 17 years investment experience, he is a strong addition to MetAM’s existing team.

Johan holds a B.Com (Hons) and MBA (Executive Management) from Stellenbosch University.
