Martin Grove heads up new Commercial Insurance department at Bidvest Insurance

As of October 2015, Martin Grove has been appointed as the Head of Commercial Insurance responsible for the running of this new division for Bidvest Insurance Group. He will be tasked for managing the growth and profitability of the division as well as the development of relationships with brokers.

Prior to joining Bidvest Insurance, Grove was the Regional Manager at Lion of Africa, where he was responsible for the handling of the Corporate, Commercial and Local Authority books of business. Martin also served as a Senior Accounts Executive at Aon SA, where he was responsible for handling existing accounts and identifying new business in Commercial and Corporate, as well as heading up the Personal lines division.

Grove’s career also saw him work at an Independent Insurance Brokerage - GDI Schofield, as the Commercial Manager where he proved instrumental in the growth of the business and in the absence of the Director, Grove assumed the role of running the company.

Grove still serves on the Insurance Institute of KwaZulu Natal’s council (IIKZN), which he has been a part of since 2004. During his eleven year service, he was appointed the youngest male President in the history of the IIKZN and he was also the first President to have served for two consecutive years for the IIKZN. Currently Grove is serving as the Chairperson of the Sports Committee for 2015. Grove also had the privilege in recent years to take on the responsibility of Chairman of DIMA (Durban Insurance Market Association) for two years (2012/2013).
