27 July 2011 | People and Companies | Appointments | Maitland

Maitland, the international wealth and fund services firm, has expanded its multi-jurisdictional investment funds legal team with the appointment of John Langan as a partner in London. He joins Maitland from Withers where he was a partner from 2006.

Mr Langan specialises in structuring and setting up investment funds of a wide variety of structures and strategies and across a wide range of jurisdictions, both onshore and offshore, as well as advising on the related legal and regulatory issues. He has extensive experience of advising asset managers in addition to institutional, high net worth individual and family office clients.

Commenting on Maitland’s funds advisory business, Steve Georgala, CEO of Maitland, said: “Maitland is recognised as a unique offshore firm because of its physical presence in multiple jurisdictions, both in the offshore and onshore world.

“We have rapidly built a funds administration and advisory business over the past six years to total assets under administration in excess of $120 billion. John Langan joins a team of legal funds experts whose advice on fund jurisdiction, set-up and structure complements our funds corporate secretarial and administration services.”

Maitland recently announced the formation of a private equity and real estate administration team to service this fast-growing sector, particularly with regard to investment in Africa.
