Luasa - Board Changes

23 April 2008 Luasa

Luasa (the Association of Professional Financial Planners) wishes to notify members and stakeholders that Hermann Waschefort, who served as President of the association from October 2007 to April 2008, has resigned from both the position and association.

Waschefort’s resignation has been accepted by Luasa’s Board.

The Board of Luasa is delighted to announce that former Luasa Vice-President, Fanie van Wyk (pictured right) has been elected President of the association. Rob Lansdell, current Chairman of Luasa’s Eastern Cape region has been appointed Vice-President. Both appointments are effective immediately.

Van Wyk began his career in the insurance industry in 1991 and after a successful few years with Old Mutual, started his own financial planning business. He joined Luasa in 1996 and was elected to the Boland Regional committee in 2002 where he also served as Chairman of the region and a director of the Luasa Board. Van Wyk was elected Vice-President of Luasa at the end of 2007.

In addition to holding a BA (Hons) degree from the University of Stellenbosch, Van Wyk is also a registered Certified Financial Planner with the Financial Planning Institute.

Luasa CEO Raymond Byrne says Van Wyk’s extensive experience in the industry and his long-standing relationship with Luasa will add value to the association and industry as a whole. “Luasa is fortunate to have Van Wyk at its helm. As a well-respected member of the industry and a practising financial planner, he has an excellent grasp of the issues and concerns facing intermediaries. His experience, wisdom and leadership will be an asset to Luasa, its members and the financial services sector.”
