Lion of Africa Insurance is delighted to announce the appointment of Bongani Madikiza as the new Chief Executive Officer in January 2016

Mr Madikiza brings to Lion of Africa a wealth of experience in the financial services industry. Since 2000, he has held various senior positions at Old Mutual, most recently as the Managing Director of the Old Mutual Mass Foundation Cluster. He has also held the post of Managing Director of Old Mutual Corporate and the Executive General Manager, Corporate Distribution. His tenure at Old Mutual was interrupted by a stint at Lekana Employee Benefits where Mr Madikiza was Director of Operations. 

Mr Madikiza’s experience in the financial sector extends as far back as 1990, when he drove the bancassurance model for MEEG Bank. He also has extensive experience in negotiation in both public and private spheres as a result of his trade union work where he has been involved with strategy formulation and lead negotiations. Mr Madikiza holds an MBA qualification. 

The Old Mutual Mass Foundation Cluster is one of the key earnings portfolios for Old Mutual, focussing on the public sector and emerging formal sector segments. Mr Madikiza has demonstrated commitment to economic transformation which, together with his managerial and financial sector experience, makes him uniquely suited to Lion of Africa. 

Mr Madikiza is married with three children.
